Most Effective Way to Train - My Opinion

Image
Most Effective Way to Train - My Opinion There are several different ways to do strength training. However, I believe that there is one simple way to achieve results most effectively. What is that? Training to complete muscular and technical failure. From the outside, it seems awful and stupid. Let's look a little deeper into why I believe it is the most optimally effective. Let's begin with the psychological and emotional aspect of training to failure. If you have ever done this type of training, you understand how grueling it was when you first began. However, as you progress and practice training to failure, it becomes second nature. In my experience, I push myself the absolute hardest when I train this way. No where or nothing else will force you to push you muscles and technique to their absolute max. Therefore, you build discipline and the ability to push your body when your mind tells you otherwise. This translates to life as well. When we are faced with adversity, strug...

How To Effectively Network: Fitness and Wellness

How To Effectively Network: Fitness and Wellness In the realm of fitness, wellness, and exercise, networking is a very essential and important aspect of your career. Some people are natural extroverts and network very well like its second nature for them. However, it's not that easy for introverts. If you're like me, you resonate more with the last sentence. I am a born introvert who used to struggle to make connections and even speak up in class. But as I learned how important networking and making connections are in my field, I realized I needed to get outside of my comfort zone. Now, the question is, how are you supposed to network effectively in the field of exercise and wellness? Even though it's cliche, the most important thing when it comes to networking is to be YOURSELF. That doesn't mean to not be professional though. I'm not saying to talk to them like your hometown best friend with some beers, but there is a certain level professionalism that should be...

How I Met The Gym

Image
How I Met The Gym I have been in an exercise and fitness atmosphere as soon as I was born. The Phillies, Eagles, 76ers, Penn State, all of these teams have been a part of my life from the womb, which brought me to the realm of sports. As soon as I was able to, I began playing and engaging in sports such as baseball, basketball, and football. From swinging a bat imagining myself as Chase Utley to running down the sideline like Darren Sproles, the game was my entire life.  It stayed that way all throughout middle school until I reached high school. That is when I developed a true understanding and passion for the game of football. Even though I was still involved in baseball and a newly picked up sport, wrestling, I was encapsulated by football. Every grueling practice, play, yard, tackle, game, all of it. It was my life and identity. Many people can't say that they develop a love for something that isn't a person or thing as strong as mine was. I wanted to play football as long ...

Whether we are depressed, angry, frustrated, annoyed, or any emotion at all, physical activity always seems to relieve those stressors. However, many of us don't know why this actually happens. Don't worry though, we'll jump right into it!     Let's begin with Endorphins and positive chemicals. This scientific word is simply mood enhancing hormones. The positive chemicals are comprised of serotonin and dopamine. These hormones are produced in the pituitary gland and hypothalamus and are released when we partake in exercise.      Serotonin is a main neurotransmitter and is commonly known as our "happy chemical". Serotonin is responsible for regulating our mood, appetite, digestion, and sleep. These chemicals are  mainly released during exercise in our brain and is closely tied to our overall wellbeing.     Dopamine is the brain's "...
